AI Receptionist for Plumbers
A plumbing call is almost never a considered purchase. Something is wet that should be dry, and the person ringing you is standing in it.
The call you lose is the one you can least afford to miss
Nobody with water coming through a ceiling rings one plumber and waits. They go down the list. Whoever picks up first gets the job, and everybody after that gets a voicemail they never return. You are not losing those jobs on price or on reviews. You are losing them because your hands were full.
And the calls arrive at exactly the worst moment. First thing, while you are loading the van. Mid-afternoon, while you are flat on your back under a sink with a basin wrench. During a cold snap, when the phone goes all day and every one of them is urgent.
What Aria does with a plumbing call
She answers on the first ring, 24 hours a day, on every plan — nights, weekends and bank holidays included. Then she does the triage you would do yourself:
- Is it leaking right now? An active leak and a dripping tap are two different jobs and two different responses, and she separates them before anything else.
- Have they turned the stopcock off? If they have not, she tells them to, which has saved a customer money before you have even quoted.
- Where is it? Full postcode, so you know whether it is ten minutes away or across the county before you commit to a time.
- What is the actual fault? No hot water, no heating, blocked toilet, burst pipe, leaking shower tray — in the customer's own words, not a dropdown.
- Who are they and how do you reach them? Name and a callback number, read back to them so a transposed digit gets caught on the call rather than tomorrow.
On the £59 Starter plan she texts all of that straight to your phone, so you decide what goes in the diary. On Pro she books it into your calendar herself.
She tells them she is an AI
She says it in the greeting. We are not interested in fooling your customers, and a plumbing customer in a panic does not need a guessing game on top. What they need is someone who answers, listens, and gets the details right. She does that consistently at eleven at night, which is more than most of us manage.
Already have a mate who answers the phone for you?
Then you already know the value — this is the same thing without the favour, and it does not go quiet when they are on holiday. If you have a proper answering service, the honest comparison is on Aria vs a human answering service.
Four people ring at once and you have one phone
A cold snap does not spread the calls out politely. The temperature comes up after a hard frost, pipes that split overnight start running, and the phone goes from quiet to constant in about an hour. One person with one handset answers those calls one at a time, and everybody else hears ringing or a voicemail beep.
Aria takes calls in parallel rather than one after another. There is no queue and no hold music. Ten people ringing at the same moment all get answered at the same moment, and you get ten texts with ten postcodes instead of one answered call and nine guesses. That is the part of this that a person covering your phone genuinely cannot do, however good they are.
The call at ten past eleven at night
Emergency plumbing does not keep office hours, and the out-of-hours call is usually the one worth the most — someone standing in water at eleven at night is not shopping around on price. They are ringing down a list until a human voice happens.
She answers that call on the first ring, the same as a ten o'clock Tuesday morning call, on every plan. Nights, weekends and bank holidays are included on every plan rather than sold as an add-on, because the hours you cannot cover are the reason you are reading this page. You wake up to the job written down rather than to a missed call from a number you do not recognise.
What she will not do
Worth being as clear about the limits as the capabilities, because a receptionist who oversteps costs you more than one who does too little.
- She will not quote. Not a price, not a day rate, not a ballpark. She gathers what you need in order to price it yourself.
- She will not commit you to a time you have not agreed. On Pro she books only into slots you have actually left free in your own calendar. On Starter she does not touch the diary at all.
- She will not pretend to be a person. She says she is an AI in the greeting, on every plan.
- She will not handle a gas escape. If a caller reports a smell of gas she tells them to leave it and ring the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 immediately, and flags it to you.
What the three plans actually change
The answering is not the thing held back. All three plans answer every call 24/7, and all three tell the caller she is an AI. What changes as you go up is what happens in the minute after the call ends.

Decided? You can pick a plan and start now — the three plans above are the same three on the Aria page.
Start 14 days free — Aria from £59 a month → 14 days free before the first payment. No setup fee and no minimum term. Before you pay anything, get your own number
We would rather you did not take our word for whether this is worth £59 a month. Two things cost you nothing and both give you evidence instead of a sales pitch.
The first is the demo line at the bottom of this page — it is the live system, so you can describe a burst pipe to her and judge the triage yourself. The second is the free missed-call check: it rings your mobile and texts you back exactly what happened to that call. No card, and no sales call afterwards. Put your own missed-call figure against one job's margin and the arithmetic answers itself, which is set out properly in what a missed call actually costs.
Questions plumbers actually ask us
Will Aria quote a plumbing job?
No. She will not give a price, a day rate or a ballpark. She captures the fault, the postcode, the name and the callback number and leaves the money to you. Quoting a drainage job or a boiler swap off a phone description is how you end up doing it for free.
Does Aria answer out of hours?
Yes. She answers 24 hours a day on every plan — nights, weekends and bank holidays included. Out-of-hours answering is not an upgrade; it is the whole point, because a receptionist who clocks off at five is not solving the problem a plumber has.
Does Aria tell the caller she is an AI?
Yes, in the greeting, on every plan. She says she is an AI assistant answering for your business. We are not going to change that. A customer who works it out halfway through a call feels tricked, and that lands on your name rather than ours.
What happens if four people ring at once in a cold snap?
They all get answered at once. She takes calls in parallel rather than one after another, so there is no queue and no hold music. This is the part a single human cannot do for you: on the morning the pipes start bursting, the fifth caller gets the same answer as the first.
What exactly gets sent to me after a call?
On the Starter plan she texts you the lot — the caller's name, their number, the postcode, what the job is and how urgent it sounded. You read it on site, between jobs, and decide what is worth turning the van around for.
Does she put jobs straight into my diary?
Only if you want her to. On Starter she does not touch the diary at all — she hands you the details and you decide. On the Pro plan she books the job into your calendar, into the slots you have actually left free, and confirms the appointment with the customer by text. Most sole traders stay on Starter precisely because the diary is the thing they do not want touched.
Does the customer get anything in writing?
Yes. The customer gets a text after the call, so your name is in their phone and the job is written down somewhere. That is most of what stops them carrying on down their list of three other plumbers while they wait to hear from you.
Does she read the phone number back?
Yes — name, number and address, out loud, on the call. It takes about fifteen seconds and it is the difference between a callback number you can actually ring and one digit of guesswork you discover tomorrow morning.
What does she do if a caller reports a smell of gas?
She does not try to handle it. She tells the caller to leave it and ring the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 immediately, and she flags the call to you. A gas escape is not a booking.
Is there a setup fee, a contract or a minimum term?
None of the three. There is no setup fee, no minimum term and no contract — it is monthly and you cancel when you like. There is also no installation, no engineer visit and nobody coming out to see you.
Can I hear her before I pay anything?
Yes, and we would rather you did. Ring the demo line on this page and talk to her the way a customer with a leak would — it is the live system, not a recording. After that it is 14 days free before the first payment.
What does it cost?
Starter is £59 a month, Pro is £250 a month and Multi-Site is £449 a month, as set out on the Aria pricing page. All three answer 24/7 and all three start with 14 days free.
I am not sure I miss enough calls to bother. How do I find out?
Run the free missed-call check before you spend anything. It rings your mobile and texts you back exactly what happened to the call. No card and no sales call, and it gives you your own number to put against the monthly cost rather than ours.
Do I get anything if I decide Aria is not for me?
You keep the one-page website. Tell Aria your business name and she builds one and texts you the link, and it is yours whether you take Aria or not.
Don’t take our word for it — hear her.
Ring the demo line and talk to Aria the way one of your customers would. Describe a leak, a dead boiler, whatever you like.
